Irena Zubcevic Celebrates Nearly 30 Years of Professional Excellence

FOREST HILLS, NY, June 07, 2018 Irena Zubcevic has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With nearly 30 years of industry experience to her credit, Ms. Zubcevic has worked as the chief of the Intergovernmental Policy and Review Branch, Office of Intergovernmental Support and Coordination for Sustainable Development since April 2018 at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs. Prior to this appointment, she was the chief of the Ocean and Climate Branch Division for Sustainable Development at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs from 2016 to 2018. She also held the positions of senior sustainable development officer with the United Nations from 2008 to 2016, a minister plenipotentiary with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia from 1992 to 2008, and the head of the English News Service with the Croatian News Agency from 1991 to 1992. Ms. Zubcevic began her career in international relations and development as an adviser for the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Croatia from 1990 to 1991.

Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Zubcevic pursued an education at the University of Zagreb, Croatia, earning a Bachelor of Science in linguistics. She followed this accomplishment with a Master of Science in humanities and social studies at the University of Zagreb. She concluded her studies at Harvard University with a Certificate in Senior Management in Government. Ms. Zubcevic has been trained in a number of different languages, as she is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Italian and has a working knowledge of German and Russian, among several others.

Beyond her efforts within the field, Ms. Zubcevic has contributed to numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. A contributing author of articles to esteemed journals, she has maintained membership with the International Society of Sustainable Professionals and the Soroptimist International of New York City, the latter of which she previously served as a Vice-President. Ms. Zubcevic has been recognized among the Women in Networking with the National Association of Professional Women and Pride of CCS by various national and local charities and schools.
